What do I need to pack?

Good sunglasses, a hat, sunscreen and wear some light clothing for hot weather.

We provide you with a coolbox filled with ice and bottled water. You are free to bring any other drinks or food with you for the day.

We do discourage bringing messy food that requires silverware. If you can eat it one-handed it should be good.

What time do we leave?

Fishing at the right time is critical for a successful fishing trip.

Big game fishing is the most successful in the early morning or late evening.

We can leave as early as 6 a.m. But every time frame is possible on request.

Where do we start the fishing trip?

Our boat is located at:

Ocean Breeze Marina
90 Kaya International, Kralendijk, Caribisch Nederland

Ocean Breeze Hotel/Marina is located across the airport.
If you like, we can pick you up from your accommodation.

Can we take the fish home?

Yes, you can take some fish home for dinner. The rest of the catch will stay with the captain.

It is possible to take more fish with you. Ask us about the possibilities/prices.

Of course, you can also choose for catch and release.
Please let us know in advance by booking.

Smaller fish and billfish will be thrown back into the ocean to keep the population on track.

Can I combine fishing and snorkeling in one trip?

For the casual angler or mixed family groups, this is an ideal way to go.

Combine a fishing expedition with time to snorkel, swim, and hang out on the beach with your private Yellowfin Bonaire tour.

It’s better to share your plans with the captain ahead, so he can choose the best places.

What fishing gear do we use?

For trolling we use Penn International rods and reels in combination with lighter Weebass rods and Shimano reels.

For jigging we use japanese Z-zagan rods with Shimano ocean jigger reels.

For casting we use Z-zegan casting rods with Shimano reels.

For flyfishing, you can bring your gear or use one of our Sage Rods.

We have a wide variety of jigs and lures to use.

Which boat do we use?

Our boat is a Seafox 257 CC with a 300hp engine

and Minn kota fronttroller.

Will I get seasick?

No matter how experienced you might be, seasickness can happen to anyone.

If you are sea sick on board you can let us know. So we can go closer to the shore.

Follow those tips to prevent seasickness:
– Stay hydrated.
– Avoid drinking alcohol before and during the deep sea fishing trip.
– Eat lightly before boarding.

You can also prevent seasickness by taking some medicine in advance.

Guaranteed to catch fish?

No, like fishing everywhere, you won’t always catch a fish on a fishing charter. That being said, it’s pretty rare we don’t catch any fish.

It’s likely you’ll catch fish.
You just might not catch the exact fish you had your heart set on.

What is the cancellation policy?

No-Show-No-Call will be charged the full amount of Fishing Charter.

If you cancel within 24 hours of the charter you will be charged the full amount of Fishing Charter.

The captain may cancel the Fishing Charter for weather or mechanical issue at any time. You will be rescheduled or refunded if unable to reschedule. Only the Captain may cancel for weather.
Carribean weather is unique, rain percentage does not necessarily mean it will rain.

If you cancel between 72 hours and 24 hours you will receive a gift card or reschedule for another date in the future.

If you cancel more than 72 hours before the Fishing Charter you will receive a full refund.

The real point is that we want to take you fishing, we don’t want to charge you and not take you fishing. But if you cancel last minute you leave a captain onshore without someone to go fishing with. Within the 24-hour window, they likely passed up the opportunity to take someone else.
Let’s just go fishing !

Is there a toilet on board?

There is a bathroom at the marina where we leave from.
We hove no toilet on the boat but there is one over the railing or you can use a bucket.

Will other groups be on the charter?

Fishing Charter Yellowfin Bonaire is a private charter.
It will be only your group with your private captain and guide.

Will the captain clean our catch?

Absolutely, we are happy to clean and fillet some fish for you.

TESTIMONIALS

I have had a truly great experience(s) going fishing with Yellowfin Bonaire! The first trip we went trolling, and as the name suggested Tuna was one of the big target fishes off the day.
Oh man did Paul deliver, we have caught multiple yellow and blackfin tuna’s alongside some other species like barracuda.

After giving my arms a well-deserved couple of days to recover I went on another trip with Paul. This time we chose to go jigging to target some other great species like queen snapper.
This day was a little tougher catch wise, but no matter that is fishing. We still caught some nice fish and just alone the shared knowledge and experience from captain Paul kept me more than entertained the whole trip. The boat is not the biggest but very comfy and well equipped with all the modern electronics tools and even an electric trolling motor that really helps with the comfort during jigging. Also Paul’s fishing gear is top off the line and definitely well maintained and adjusted for the target species. I much prefer this than (expensive) bigger-size boats with rusty gear or that it looks like it’s meant for catching an Orca.

When on Bonaire I will definitely go fishing again with Paul! Maybe try for a queen snapper again, but there are still so much more variety of species and fishing styles still on offer so choosing will be difficult.
